We've had several students do their first solo within the last month or two, but today was a special one. I soloed my 17 year old son.

Glad the weather is getting better up north. Did you cut his shirt tail?

We finally had a good weekend weather-wise. Both Brantlys were going much of the time. Probably 10-12 hours between them this weekend.
No, I didn't cut his shirt tail. Didn't even think of it. Could hardly wipe the grin from either of our faces.

Thanks. His younger brother turns 16 in a few weeks and is already doing pretty good at the controls too. His goal is to solo before he turns 17 so he can beat his brother. I think he'll make it.

Congratulations to you both. It won't be long Ron and you'll be able to retire and let them teach

We met Ron's son June 2011, Cherry Ridge. Very mature, vry polite and
at ease speaking with adults.
Not surprized here.
