Challenger aka K&N Air filters

Challenger has an stc for putting the K&N air filter on the Brantly. They claim a 2 to 4 % increase in hp. Now it's pretty well known that a K&N will flow better than a stock filter and especially better than a Brackett foam filter at the expense of not quite filtering as good. Since we don't run these things in a dusty off road environment it might be worth the 2 bills to put it on. I put one on my older Bonanza. I don't particularly like the fiddly cleaning chore though.

If I could find them easily I believe I'd just go back to the stock CA161PL paper filter-but they're very hard to find (I think Piper has an equivalent). Still if you really could get an extra 3 to 7 HP with the K&N that'd be worth it for sure.

What do y'all think K&N, Paper, or stick with the restrictive but cheaply replaced Brackett foam filter?

What about it guys? Have you stuck with the stock paper CA161pl or equivalent, Brackett foam, or has anybody actually installed the Challenger K&N filter?

I have used the challenger filters on other aircraft and they work well. If they made one for the B2 I would use it. STC'd only for B2B

Does the B2 still have the CA161PL paper filter or has it been converted to the Brackett foam job? Napa actually has an equivalent to the CA161PL. Piper has one as well but of course it costs 70 to 120 dollars depending on where you buy it from. I guess that's why so many wind up with the Brackett filter. I think I'll go with the Challenger for 2 bills. If I get even a little extra oomph it'll be worth it!
