Product Enhancements

I spoke with Gilles, the engineering manager at Brantly, during Heli Expo. He mentioned that some of the possible enhancements that were being considered were a muffler, IFR package, and cargo hook (for training only). If you are interested in any of these items, it might be good to contact Branlty so that they know there is a market for them.

I've been wishing for a muffler for these for a long time. That would certainly be one upgrade I'd be interested in. The others sound interesting also though.

The muffler would be a great addition as long as it did not rob any power. The noise is one of the things I dislike about the Brantly. Shortly, I will be beginning a process of converting a 305 to turbine power using a 317 HP Allison turbine. I'm just in the planning stages at this point, but I really think this would make the old machine a great flying bird. I would also like to see a B2B converted to turbine, but I don't have that much ambition.

The Muffler and European Sales

Brantly Company needs to know that the muffler would allow the B2-B to meet the noise requirements of the European Union!!!! That would surely increase potential sales. Cy Russum (Brantly VP) says he can not sell new machines in Europe.

The older machines are able to be grandfathered in.

I think (but NOT sure) that new B2-B's can be brought into Europe as American "N" registered through a TRUST company, and used as American machines in Europe without the noise worry.

About the passenger controls

It would sure be nice if there was a way to quick disconnect and reconnect the controls on the passenger side.

Brantly enhancements

I think that Brantly should.
1.Manufacture the outer blade from a composite like carbon fibre,which would stop this cracking on rivets at the damper.Although the cost may be high think of the increase in hours.
2.Redo the tail rotor in a more efficent aerofoil like the R22 for more authority,and get the most from it.The tapered blade is old fashioned.
3.Tweak the power plant , small turbo?
4.Lower the cost of new machines and wean people off R22S.
5.Tell the world that they are manufacturing Brantlys,spend some money on advertising,fly one round the USA with an advert on the side.
I am no engineer so if my ideas are not practical I fully understand if people dont agree
