Crash Question

Post by J-nut »

Was talking with a friend recently about the crash down in Camas, WA. I guess he knows a friend of one of the guys involved. He was saying one of the guys got whacked by one of the blades coming down into the cabin. Not severely I gather but enough to give him a concussion. I know of one other where one of the occupants had the top of his headset hit and got a cut on his head from either the headset being knocked off or being knocked into the door frame. I'm curious if anyone knows of any other accidents where the blades have come down into the cabin and injured or killed the occupants?

Compared to the Eurocopter's transmissions breaking loose and decapitating the front seat passengers and the Robinson's blade intrusions into the cabin after tailboom strikes I figure the Brantly is pretty safe if all it can manage to do is give you a whack on the head. Just curious and all...

Instructer killed in a Brantly in Oxford England in the 70s called Graham Merrick(he was one of my Dads instrutors) bolt failed on mid blade attachment ,blade came in to cabin in the hover killing instructor ,student walked away.Scarily the same student was driving his Ferrari shortly after, and crashed killing his mother and he also walked away from it.
