Anyone going to Homer's? Where is a good place to stay? I checked with Days Inn Hillsboro and it is booked. Looks like the only nice place to stay is in Wilmington. Any info on these places? Any fly-in available or do you need to go to Airborne Airpark and park.
Help!

Re: HOMER BELL
I should be there. I'll be trailering mine there this year. I normally stay at Days Inn in Hillsboro but, yes, they are booked up, at least on the 24th. I've also stayed at the Paragon Inn there in Hillsboro a couple of times. Not real nice, but a place to shower and sleep. One year I did go up to Wilmington. I don't remember which hotel though, and it was a bit of a drive. There were several hotels up there and I was driving so I didn't look for empty space for landing beside any of them. This year I'm staying at Best Western down in Mt Oreb. So far they still have some rooms available. A buddy was there the last couple of years and said that there is room to land next to it. I haven't been there before so I don't know about the quality or service there though.
Hope to see you there!

Two sons coming along and wife not coming this year to drive. Usually works out that every other year I can fly out, then trailer it the next, then fly, etc.
Re: HOMER BELL
I really hope to fly, it's about 300 miles from Chatta. My main issue is that my wife is having some serious health problems, so I may not be there at all. Thanks for the tip on Best Western, I do have reservations.
I have not been there in many years, really hope it works out. Will look you up.
Anyone else going to Homer's?

Re: HOMER BELL
Here are the pictures I took at the meet this year. There were 59 helicopters that showed up. I flew a lot on Friday - 9 times. Saturday was a wash-out, with thunderstorms all day. But not a complete waste.

Ron,
Thanks for the pictures! I always enjoy seeing the pics you post. Looks like a good time at Homer's. Perhaps next year I can make it out there.
Wow! Looks like the young 'un is growing up. Seems like yesterday you guys flew out to Wooster to meet me and give me a ride in the Brantly. Perhaps if I ever get this thing finished I can stop by and see you guys sometime.

Re: HOMER BELL
I think the one who flew with me to meet you was probably my oldest, who is 16 now and just bought his first pickup!! The son in that last picture is my middle one, who is 13. On that flight he was actually doing quite well handling all of the controls. I was guarding them, but he was doing all the flying. I don't think they appreciate the rare opportunity that they have, but that's ok.
