Hello, all!
I just joined your group today (13 Apr 08).
I am a dual-rated commercial pilot currently flying a Beechcraft B-200 (military C-12C) as a civilian contractor in support of US Forces in Iraq. I have about 2000 hours total logged time, but only 100 hours logged helo time. I have been a commercial pilot since 2004; flying is my second career.
While I am by no means complaining at my good fortune to have landed this particular job (I could do far, far worse...), it is my goal to work as a helicopter pilot. --I'm noticing that my 100 hours total helicopter time doesn't seem to be turning many heads in the helicopter pilot recruiting departments out there, so (like all of us) it's on me to get that logbook fattened up. Otherwise, I'm just going to go nowhere fast in the helicopter industry, and that's just not acceptable.
I have flown the B-47; S-269 series; R-22; Enstrom F-28; and I was lucky to be paid to log 15 hours in the MD-500D (including a turbine transition course) before a golden job opportunity dried up on me. I am also a CFI/CFII, but I haven't ever had the time to add on a CFI-H. (I'd still have too few hours to instruct, even if I had gotten the -H add-on.)
I have no Brantly time, but I'm very intrigued by the ship. Having done some research, it seems to me that the Brantly (while not the most attractive aircraft aloft) is easily the best value in the light helo market, as well as a top performer. Seems to be the best kept secret in the light helo world...
I noticed an old (2003) posting on the bulletin board by RDRickster asking for a third party to join in a Brantly partnership in the DC area. Since I make my home in the DC area, I'm curious: is that partnership still solvent? --If so, are there any vacancies?
I hate to chime into that old discussion thread four years too late... But RD, I'd be interested in joining your group --if you still have a group in 2008, that is...
I would appreciate hearing from you, RD, or anyone else out there who has insight or guidance to offer. I'm looking forward to logging some "dual received" in a Brantly this coming September or October, and maybe one of you out there would consent to act as CFI for me.
And, I look forward to joining the ranks of Brantly pilot-owners soon.
Regards,
Astro33

I'm pretty sure that RDRickster now lives in Texas.
There are still at least a couple Brantly owners in the DC area. Hopefully they will be able to reply to you here and help you out.

Welcome!
WoW, I remember the C-12, I have 100 hours them. I too have 90 in B-47.
Iam interested in a partnership in the area, I spend weekdays in Fairfax and most weekends in WV. I know where there are a couple of B-2Bs for sale , we can talk.
I have 3600 in fixed wing from small single to Citations. I'm a CFI in both too. I'm retired, working contract in the area now.
Currently, I am in Ecuador until Saturday, 19th late evening. Shoot me an e-mail to: edspilot@cox.net and we can e-mail until I get back.
I've been looking to buy since October, glad you are in the area.
Regards,
edspilot

I live in Arlington & have recently brought a B2B here on a trailer from California. Just joined the group today. Did you get any responses to your previous inquiry? I was not aware of any Brantlys here in the metro area. E-mail or give me a call on home number 703-979-2483 or cell 703-409-5330. Fred
