I know that our engine had 915 hours on it when it got its first overhaul. I don't recall the hours it had when the second overhaul was done but it was similar.

These engines are absurdly expensive from Lycoming. I haven't researched how much parts commonality they have with other IO360's but at best there's got to be quite a few differences. I would think at least the crankcases, crankshafts, cam, etc would be differnt. Maybe someone that has been thru this can comment on that.

Most parts are the same. The cylinders are changed to have oil lines run to cool and oil the exhaust valves. There are very few lower end parts that are not common on normal models. The worst case I found is the locking tab for the bolt for the gear on the crankshaft. Brad

Brad,
I would be really surprised if the crankshaft or crankcases were the same. So if you say had a badly scored crankshaft that might run into some serious $$. If those major parts are the same then the situation would be much better.

The Crankshaft is the same as I remember. You can check it through the cross reference manual. The case is also changed to allow for the oil lines to the exhaust valves. But is the same basic case.
