Can anyone who has insurance on the Brantly share with us where you got it and how much it cost? What experience is require to get the minimum Liability and Collision? As a new helio pilot with just 35 hours, this has been a problem. 13000+ fixed wing doesn't seem to matter.

I just renewed my insurance with C F M Aviation Insurance in Long Beach, CA. Ph. 800-429-6000 It is for one mil. liability only for $3550.00 per year and they require 150 hours helio time and 50 in type. I understand that no one sells insurance direct to small heliocopter owners, and agents
broker for underwriters, and there are only a small group who will underwrite. I was told when I checked with Falcon that they would quote from
the same underwriter I was with, currently london underwriters. The only difference in price would be in the amount of commisson they charge, which I understand, normaly, to be about $500. Over the years I have been placed with three different underwriters, one of which was John Deere. I thought that was ineresting.
Last year I only flew the B2B 6 hours, cost per. hour is a bit high. My agent
said "don't even go there" just think of the fun! Del

I've received quotes from both Falcon and Wings, for both liability only and full coverage including dual flight instruction. Wings (Joel Heining - see Insurance link on the left of the page) had much better service and rates; a hands down winner for me. He earned my business. Here's how the numbers compared. Remember that this is for me only and my current ratings and hours. And for the dual instruction, I was the only named pilot/instructor. YMMV.

Wings was $500 cheaper than Falcon for liability only ($2000 vs $2500).
Wings was $3500 cheaper than Falcon for full coverage, including dual instruction.

Joel has just quted me full coverage for about $5,500, with hull of $50,000. Liabilty only, is $1800. I am waiting on a quote from Caledonian Insurance.
