Brantly Designated Pilot Examiner

Post by Ron Spiker »

Does anyone know of a DPE who is able to give the initial CFI checkride in a Brantly? I'd rather not have to do the rest of my instruction and checkride in an R-22, but it's looking like I may have to. I already have the SFAR 73 sign-off for R-22's, but I'd rather do this all in my own ship.

Try Lynn Gooch's Experience

Post by bryancobb »

Hey Flylow,

Lynn Gooch, Blairsville, GA just took a private ride with a DPE with Brantly experience. I think he is allowed to give Initial CFI rides with a FSDO letter of authorization.
Ask Lynn to give you his number.

Thanks Bryan, I contacted him and got the DPE's info. I'll give it a shot.

Ron,

Tom couldn't do your CFI ride with a letter from the FSDO!

No, already talked to him about it. I'll probably end up finishing up the training in an R22 and taking the checkride in that.

Thanks.

Thanks John,

Finished my CFI checkride there a few years ago. Ended up doing it in an R22.
I do get calls frequently though for the Brantly, so I'll certainly keep you in mind.

There is a Brantly CFI here in Chattanooga, but you must have your own ship. Let me know if this will help. After his sign off you then go to Bill Reily, North Georgia, for your check ride.

This is good information for those needing a checkride in a Brantly.
If you guys are replying to me and my initial question from 3 years ago, I got my CFI back in 2006, and have been training on and off since then.
Currently training quite a bit in my Brantly.

Thanks,
Ron
