I've seen it happen once, a few years ago. Two guys were working on their B2B... the pilot inside and the other guy half-in and half-out of the pax door. After they shut down the engine and the blades were coming to a stop, the pax stood up a bit too far and got his head knocked. The blades weren't moving that fast, but it still put a gash in his head.

I have to admit that being 6'2" I have learned to duck around the Brantly after bumping my head a few times, but my head was the only thing moving not the blades!

Had my first Brantly lesson in the 60s at Concord, CA... Instructor got a phone call and handed me the preflight checklist... Told me to preflight IAW the list and to watch my head on the blades... I took my first Brantly lesson with a gash in my forehead...
Not Injured But Freaked Out!

Hi Guys,
I'm really reluctant to admit this ... but here goes.
I put a warning in YELLOW letters on each of my interior door frames that say "WARNING KEEP HANDS INSIDE ANY TIME ROTORS ARE TURNING."
Well I didn't heed my own warning. One day last summer I was departing the airport with both doors off.
I took the cyclic with my left hand and reached out the right door to waive at one of my buddies who was to the left and below.
So he could see my hand above the bubble, I REALLY REACHED...
Before I knew it, the slow-turning part of the inner blades had struck my fingertips 3 or 4 times before I retracted my hand.
No injury, not even a bruise but I GUARANTEE I will not do that again, and if you want to learn from my stupidity, you won't either!
