All Brantly pilots will be saddened to learn of the tragic death of an Australian Brantly pilot, Bernard Finch, on 22nd January 2006. Bernard was a livestock farmer and was learning to fly his recent model Brantly VH-FBE when he flew into power lines on his own property while his wife watched.. The aircraft subsequently caught fire and was totally destroyed. The accident is still under investigation although his family believed that some thing went wrong prior to the impact, possibly a medical event. I had been talking to Bernard prior to his death about Damper failures. He had had 3 fail in a new nachine and I have had 3 dampers fail to last 50 hours.
