Hi,
i'm new to the forum and am seeking all aspects of knowledge of Brantlys. Currently Building a Safari but did my training in a R22. Someones comment on another forum (helicycle) prompted me to look into the Brantly as a possible purchaser of one.
Currently rated in helicopters but haven't flown for 3 years..12000+ fixed wing. Just sold my Super Decathlon and I am having a hard time deciding whether to buy another fixed wing (RV6/7/8 or falco are heading up the list) or a helicopter to enjoy while I complete the Safari.
I've read almost everything on this and the Brantly web site and have seen some of the pros and cons of the Brantly. i would like more input on the pros and cons from those who are experienced Brantly flyers. Is it possible to find a good used ship these days as the last post of any that were for sale was a while ago? Are there any other web sites that might help me make up my mind? As a point of reference I live just South of Ft. Worth, Texas. Typical DA day is about 2000-3000', less in the winter. PA of airport is 710'. 5'10', 200 lbs. Where might one be able to obtain a demo ride to determine ride and physical fit inside one? Thanks for web page.

The Brantly is a very nice helicopter to get into. Probably the cheapest certified ship you'll get into that isn't timed out. They fly very nice, have great visibility (like your Safari will have), and adequate power under most conditions. I don't have any major complaints about them. They aren't nearly as twitchy as the R22 you trained in, so it wouldn't take long to make the transition. There are still ships for sale; try barnstormers or trade-a-plane. Where you are located there are several Brantly owners close by, and the factory isn't that far away either.
