Starters

I just had to replace my starter and got a Sky Tec HT. It is about 8-10 lbs lighter than the old one and cranks faster. Apparently, there are different types of ring gears which the starter turns that are installed on the Lycoming engine. I have a B-2B and have a ring gear with 149 teeth. However, I know that many of the B-2s have 122 teeth in the ring gear, so be sure to count before you order. Here is the link to Sky Tech

When installing the Sky Tech starter on the B-2B, a piece of the metal baffle plate must be cut out so it will fit around the starter. It must then be re-sealed to ensure proper air flow and cooling.
