We have had frequent thunderstorms for the past couple of weeks in the Dallas area. So today, with a break in the weather and my brother visiting from out of town, we went on a sightseeing tour of Dallas.

I keep my Brantly at T33, just East of Dallas. From there we flew to the West to Arlington.

Here is the Ballpark in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers baseball team. You can see Fort Worth Texas in the distance:

We then landed at the Arlington Convention Center Heliport (Wyndham Hotel) just North of the Ballpark. Here is a picture of me and my B-2B:

The Wyndham Hotel is only about half a mile West of Six Flags Over Texas, so as we headed to the East toward Dallas, we got a spectacular view of the amusement park:

I had been right on the edge of Class B airspace, but needed clearance to follow the I-30 helicopter route through Dallas to the East. I got clearance, and was told to fly at 900 feet (about 400 AGL). Dallas Love Field is only a few miles North of downtown and the wind was from the South, so I had to stay low since Love Field departures were over-flying where I was.

I-30 goes just South of downtown Dallas, so we got a great view of the skyline:

On the East side of downtown, is Fair Park:

Here is a better view of the Cotton Bowl in Fair Park:

We then headed out of Class B airspace back to T33. On the way is Lake Ray Hubbard, where we flew over the South edge of the Lake:

All-in-all, a great day of flying!!

Great pictures Steve. Thanks for sharing them with us. Is the ballpark heliport in controlled airspace? Do you have to get clearance to land there?

The Ballpark is not in controlled airspace, unless of course a game is being played when there is a TFR in 3 nm radius 1 hour before to 1 hour after the game.

Awesome! My wife is from Dallas, so I know that area well. Still, I've never seen it from the air. Thanks for sharing.
