What is happening with the Brantly community

Post by psehorne »

What is happening wiith the Brantly community?

I haven't been following the Brantly scene since Harold Jenkins crashed my B2B in January 2009. I see that the forum has no actively of late.

I'm considering buying a helicopter again, and may consider a Brantly again, but don't find any Brantlys for sale.

Thanks,
Paul

Hey Paul - there are a few die hards still around with machines - I'm New Zealand Based with #417 B2B "ZK-INK" and I'm in regular contact via FB with Sean Mcfarland (he's got the old ARMY B2B that Ron S. used to have in his hangar...).

Sad news about Gary G. eh? His daughter is sorting out his affairs apparently. and my last visit to Indiana had him with 5 B2B's for sale in his shed and the old airworthy 5-seater (plus 1 other as parts)...

Maybe we should start a FB page for the Brantly ... not sure how support will go now Gary has passed...

Cheers.

Why a Facebook Group when this forum can be used

Post by psehorne »

I don't do Facebook. Too intrusive. I know because my wife has a Facebook account and gets way too much marketing crap as a result. Seems like the marketers know every step she takes. I don't have that situation, and I'm sure it is because I don't have a Facebook account.

I don't understand why this forum couldn't serve the same purpose. (Don't try to enlighten me. I will NOT open a Facebook account.) I know, there are probably some Facebook features that the forum does not have.

I took a look at the Brantly Facebook community and see that there have been posts there that, in my opinion, could have been placed here. I hate to see this forum abandoned....

Just my two cents....

I don't do Facebook either.
And I won't do Facebook.
Or Twitter.
Or Snapchat.
Or you name it.
I am an "anti-social" (and "anti-socialism", but that's a different story)
I develop computer software for a living (fly for a life) and I have worked in systems "like" Facebook.
No way in *HELL* I'll join that crap.
I don't even do "supermarket discount cards".
I don't install "apps" on my phone either, other than navigational aids. And then open-source (Avare)
In short, I am just a couple of notches away from "moving to a cabin in Montana".

This is a small community with a dwindling population and severely hurt by Mrs Goldsberry tragedy, and now trying to find more ways to alienate people like me...
My hope to ever owning a Brantly lied on Mrs Goldsberry knowledge and the support of this forum.
Which has been awfully quiet...

Mrs Goldsberry is sadly gone now.
And Facebook is taking away my last chance to own a Brantly by shooting down this forum.
Rats...

Time to look for alternatives...
