Ground Handling Wheels

Post by seneca2e »

If there is actually anyone that reads this forum that flies a Brantly :) or has flown a Brantly here's a question. Do(did) you fly with the ground handling wheels off or on?

The wheels stay on all the time. It would be a chore to unbolt them every time. They rotate up for flying, and rotate down for ground handling.

I was thinking in terms of a clevis pin or clip so that they'd be easily removable. They're made out of steel(I just repaired mine) leaving them off would definitely save a few pounds. The Robinson R22 is flown without them and that's what got me thinking of leaving them off.

It LOOKS a little cool without them, but there will be times you'll say "dang I wish I had my wheels." I DID find some tires and rims that looked a little sportier that the OEM's.
