Had a chance to go to Oshkosh this year and jumped on it. First time for me and I'll tell you it was a bit overwhelming. Just got back this afternoon. If you've never been, I'd highly recommend it!!
Thought I'd share a little story ya'll might find interesting. I stopped by the Lycoming booth to give a little good natured razzing to the Lycoming guys about support for the IVO-360. I happened to talk to a guy out of Oklahoma who was pretty familiar with our engine. He told me that the guys in China have put up something like 25 million (perhaps it's 2.5 million, either way it's big money to me,) to Lycoming to start up production and spares support for the engine. Sounds like they are serious about getting things rolling again which is music to my ears!! Word is, either Lycoming or the FAA is balking at sending things to China so the US factory may soon be very busy. Keep in mind, this was all from a tech rep so take it with a grain of salt. While there I had a gander at their new IO-390 - 210hp at 2700rpm! Can you imagine if they were to make that into an IVO-390? Power problems solved? One can dream right?
