Autogas STC for IVO-360

Post by Tom »

Has anyone obtained, or does anyone know of, an autogas STC for the B-2B?

Thanks.

Auto Fuel STC

Post by Charlie »

I have not heard of one for the B-2B. Peterson Aviation has done most of the auto fuel STC's for other aircraft and they do not list any for the IVO-360 engine, in fact, they do not list any for the injected 360's. They do have them for the O-360's. Their website is: http://www.autofuelstc.com
Hope this was helpful.

I will check out the site. Is there anything that makes an autogas STC more difficult/less practical for a fuel injected engine?

Thanks, Charlie!

Auto fuel

Both peterson & EAA have done research on the IO 360 engines. Neither were able to get results to allow them to obtain approval by the FAA. I was told it was because of vapor pressure problems. I dont think peterson or EAA tried to obtain an STC for the B2 as far as I can tell the engine, fuel blader material, fuel pumps, & carburator have all been used in other applications which have obtained STC approval from the FAA.

Auto Fuel STC for injected engines

Post by Charlie »

Some auto fuel STC's are available for injected engines because I have one for my Debonair. It has a Continental IO-470K engine in it. I think the main reason that it has an STC available is because it is a low compression engine that was designed to burn 80 octane aviation fuel. I haven't look at all of the STC's, but I think most, if not all, are for engines that were designed for 80 octane.

The Bladers Should not be a problem. They are they same type of material used in the piper apache which have been approved for years. The problem is with the fuel injected lycoming O360 engines is what both stc holders have had the problem with. The EAA tech support can shed more light on this.
