Re: Useful load
Actually, seneca2e is correct. In his scenario, the aircraft would be slightly forward of the CG limit. With such heavyweight pax, you need to replace some fuel weight with baggage weight to remain in CG. A better solution is to avoid so much weight in the cabin :) Two 250 pounders would find it a t...

Re: Brantly 305
A turbine conversion for the 305 is an idea that has appealed to me as well; however, your experience suggests that a little more investigation of the design might be a good idea first.

Re: Brantly 305
The NTSB reports 25 accidents/incidents involving the Brantly 305. Five were fatal with nine fatalities altogether. Nearly all were as a result of pilot error. Seven involved mechanical failure: One engine 'flame out'. Three tail rotor failures all caused by fatigue cracks either in the gear box or ...

Re: Useful load
The empty weight on our B2B is 1067. Fuel burn has no effect on CG since the fuel tanks are located in the bottom of the fuselage, directly under the engine and on the CG. I've flown it in hover at max gross takeoff weight and 15 degrees above ISA. It flew just fine with MP at about 27". This w...

Re: Has anybody heard of a Brantly engine that made or exceeded
I know that our engine had 915 hours on it when it got its first overhaul. I don't recall the hours it had when the second overhaul was done but it was similar.

Re: Increasing power on the Brantly?
Lycoming has a Special Service Instruction (I believe it's SSI-884-2) for converting older 360 engines from oil screens to oil filters.

Re: Why does the factory do little to no promotion?
I was discussing this very thing with Chris Gerred at the factory last week :) SunHelo intends to exhibit our Brantly at Sun 'N' Fun and Oshkosh this year and we anticipate some support from the factory. Details to be arranged. Neither we nor the factory have any plans to attend the HAI convention t...

In a recent conversation with the factory we were informed that they are getting their ducks in a row to start cranking out new rotor blades as we speak.

Re: Anyone doing any flying in their Brantlys?
Our B2B will be out of the shop by Wednesday with a fresh annual and lots of niggling little things fixed. We're looking forward to getting it back in the air. The cause for the extensive downtime for this annual can be laid squarely at the feet of the maintenance 'guru' nearly everyone in the Brant...

Re: Wanted B-2B
Hi, all: I just joined here. I am very interested in getting a B-2B. Any out there available? I see one on trade-a-plane & one in Barnstormers, that's it. I see there were some on here 6 months or more ago. Any of these left? I'll call the factory Wednesday and see what they have or know about....
