Re: Enstrom sold to Chinese company
I talked to the Enstrom factory Friday ( going back for a refresher tech course) and they were positive. There response was that it has had many owners in the past & most were foreign. With the contracts they have they didn't feel as though they would give up there FAA certificate. Bill This Ar...

Re: Enstrom now owned by Chinese
An Enstrom on a pipeline run came in today(he's a regular once a month) and told me this news. He was positive it was good news but I'm not. I'm with you on that one. I am definitely not positive it is good news The pipeline driver is entitled to his *opinion*. But even a casual glance back at the ...

PER FORT RUCKER I.P.'S ....RECOVER RPM AT ALL COSTS! I DON'T CARE IF LOWERING COLLECTIVE CAUSES YOU TO HAVE TO HIT A WALL OR FLY INTO THE JUNGLE, DO IT. Been there: (Ex USArmy IP), Done that: ( used almost exact words... 'Thy rotor RPM is thy staff of life') Thanks for the memories, Bryan..... Grea...

Re: Flying in the wind today.
Sounds like you were having a fun day flying that all of us "wish we were there" too. Not an expert, just a couple thoughts: 1) I share your observations. Quartering tailwinds were always most challenging to me from as a pilot and not an aeronautical analyst. 2) You probably know that the ...

Re: Heli of Day
Had their problems been solved it could have been the R44 of its generation.
Very good point
For example, IMHO, the interior of the 305 from about 50 years ago compares very favorably with the $300K R-44 of today.

Neat 305 story...RIP Harold
B305_pic013a 3.jpg Brantly 305 with Bill Upton at the controls. It turns out that Bill and Harold were in this ship in Milheim, PA when they lost the tail rotor and the aircraft proceeded to crash into the down slope of a hillside. Of the incident Harold said, "I've probably got more time flyi...

"Me too", on the just checked in and so terribly saddened by the passing of Harold Jenkins. Having had contact with him on and off since stationed at Fort Sill in 1964, I am literally brought to tears reading that he has 'flown west'. All of us who have flown and loved Brantly Helicopters ...

A great 'Playful' day at Cherry Ridge N-30
My most sincere 'Thank You' to Bill and Vinnie from V&B Aircraft for a great day of fun and food and fellowship at their Second Annual Fly In. The Brantlys were beautiful and their owners as well as the other Rotorheads attending were a real pleasure to swap hangar stories and good 'Hover Lover'...
