Getting to the oil screen

I had a very respectable mechanic advise me on this very issue. After fighting through several oil changes. The easiest way I have found to be able to get to the screen housing is to disconect the push pull tube linkage to the swash plate. One needs to be careful with the jamb nut on the bottom and ...

Well, what a trip. We left Kansas City at 5:00 AM Thursday. I was unloaded and had a 1/2 hour of flying in by 8:00 PM. There were a lot of Helicopters there. A couple of unfortunate incidents. We were told a Rotorway ran out of fuel. "Yes he crashed." No one was hurt. Both pilot & pass...

I and a friend will be leaving KC Early Thursday the 15th. It is about a 10 hr drive. I am bringing my ship (by trailer). Although flying off or on it is out of the question for me. The fender wells rise above the floor and the handling wheels just fit inbetween them. Hence dynamic roll over danger....

I read this post the other day and decided to wait a little while to see what other pilots had to say. Mainly to see what technics others employed. I took my initial traning in an R22 B2. I believe I was fortunate enough to have some pretty good instructors. I was taught that an engine failure would...

Minor Oil Leak

OK, I suspect most of you will think I'm nit picking but. I have a very small oil leak that I believe is coming from the external oil line fitting to the #3 cyclinder exhaust valve stem. After about 1 1/2 hours of flight there is 2 or 3 spots about the size of a pencil eraser. It seems to flow throu...

Homer Bell's Fly In

Does anyone know what dtaes in July the Fly In is? At this time I am planning to make the trip to visit. I would like to here from any other pilots that have been before. Are there motels close to stay at? What activities, if any are scheduled for the Fly In. Your comments are appreciated. Don L.

Density Altitude

Took a nice flight Saturday. Flew up to 5,000 ft MSL. Temp was 40 degrees.

Density Alt. was 4,923 ft.

Two of us aboard. About 410 lbs. + 1/2 tank fuel. Was running about 21 lbs. manifold pressure. Ship was still climbing and had plenty of power.

Almost Busting TFR

My friend that instructs for Silver State Helicopters. Just flew an R-22 that Silver State bought from NE Florida to Las Vegas. I would have loved to make the trip with him but timing just didn't work out. We met up at his house in Vegas on Wednesday the 26th. Day before Thanksgiving. He had just go...

We flew out of North Las Vegas airport “KVGT”. I have flown here before. About three times. Always i...
